Report on RECON - STAN Interaction Meeting


Former Minister for Science and Technology and Coordinators of Advisors' Committee of RECON Er. Ganesh Shah, on the occasion said that renewable energy should be well placed in the school curriculum so as the concept on renewable energy and how to get it would be imparted from younger age. The teachers, therefore, should work with relevant institutions for knowledge exchange. Disseminating practical aspects of renewable energy through lab works, exhibitions and providing literature would be more meaningful, he added.

STAN President Mr. Khil Kumar Pradhan expressed confidence that working with RECON will create more opportunities for science teachers to contribute. He added that beyond school periphery communities and societies may be benefitted.

Dr. Purushottam Shrestha, Sr. Director of Centre for Rural technology Nepal (CRT-N) presented on the Green and Inclusive Energy Programme, activities and achievements. He also informed that some text books on renewable energy for the schools had been prepared under the GIE Nepal Project and implemented in some municipalities in south of Lalitpur. Ms. Sadikshya Aryal of RECON informed through presentation on RECON structure, aims and activities. She also stated that RECON has been working together with various institutions. MoUs for active and important institutions had been done to work together. Likewise, Mr. Devendra Kumar Karna of STAN presented on introduction of STAN and its activities and programmes on broader benefits of the science teachers and upgrading teaching with view to contribute to students and societies.

Renewable Energy Confederation of Nepal (RECON) is a common forum of associations of private sector involved in supply and delivery of alternative energy systems and services and NGOs involved in promotion of alternative energy in Nepal. It works as an umbrella organization of associations of private sector who are committed to lobby and advocacy and are highly dedicated in enabling environment to safe guard the rights and wellbeing of professionals and practitioners involved in renewable energy value chain.
