Introduction

The diseases generated by air pollution are killing millions of human every year in the world and many people suffer such diseases. The degradation of environment is another big negative effect of the air pollution. As such, many sorts of efforts have been put to minimise the air pollution effects. Clean cook solution is one such effort launched around the world especially in the developing countries. The efforts are fetching expectable results, reports say. The total eradication of smoky cooking systems is the destination which may be obtained with more intensified efforts. Knowledge on technology and creating affordability are still challenges to combat. Millennium Development Goal, Sustainable development Goal, Sustainable Energy for All and other global movements are supporting to enhance clean cook solutions. Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is one such movement. The alliance is a public-private partnership hosted by the UN Foundation to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions. The Alliance’s 100 by ‘20 goal calls for 100 million households to adopt clean and efficient cookstoves and fuels by 2020.The alliance is working with a strong network of public, private and non-profit partners to accelerate the production, deployment, and use of clean and efficient cookstoves and fuels in developing countries

The Alliance’s awareness-raising campaigns are complemented by efforts to make cleaner cooking solutions more affordable and accessible, including technical and financial interventions around distribution and consumer financing. As more options for financing and retail distribution points become available, this information will be incorporated into messaging. Further, as demand and interest for clean cookstoves and fuels grows. Consumer awareness activities of the alliance will be closely monitored and evaluated to determine which are most effective in realizing initial adoption and use, scale, conversion into clean stove and fuel sales, and sustained adoption. The lessons learned will be posted to this website as they become available

Campaign for clean cook solution in Nepal

Although, the achievement report cards are satisfactory, the campaign for clean cookstoves need to be intensified so as all households must get the solution for the better health, better living and to reinstate better environment. Therefore, more such plans and programmes are in action in Nepal. The external supports and domestic efforts are still in need to be enhanced while Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is actively working with Alternative Energy Promotion Centre and other stakeholders to enhance the efforts in Nepal.    

The Alliance’s awareness-raising campaigns are complemented by efforts to make cleaner cooking solutions more affordable and accessible, including technical and financial interventions around distribution and consumer financing. As more options for financing and retail distribution points become available, this information will be incorporated into messaging. Further, as demand and interest for clean cookstoves and fuels grows, men and women will have clear, actionable information about where to get a stove and how they can finance it.  On the ground local change agents who reside within these communities will also support these outreach efforts and help facilitate the behaviour change that is necessary for consumers to embrace a new product.

GACC basically focus on strengthening private sector and market development in the clean cooking sector. Hence, an interaction program with private sector would be great opportunity for Nepalese private sector and for Mr Basu also for better understand the clean cooking sector situation in Nepal.
